簡介:貝克休斯的CoilTrak 系統是一個綜合性產品,融合了隨鉆電阻率測井技術和貝克公司的PressTEQ 綜合壓力管理技術。
Baker Hughes is moving its proven coiled-tubing drilling services from the gas fields of north Texas to the gas fields of southern Saudi Arabia. Saudi Aramco has awarded the company a two-year contract for two fit-for-purpose underbalanced coiled-tubing drilling packages designed to re-enter existing gas wells. The chosen technologies include Baker's CoilTrak steerable drilling system, deployed on coiled tubing.
The CoilTrak system is an integrated product offering, combining logging-while-drilling resistivity and Baker's PressTEQ integrated pressure management service with either the latest coiled-tubing orienter or a closed-loop rib-steering system. The company states that this ensures ideal performance, well placement, and system reliability on each well.
The modular 2 3/8-in. system is designed to drill hole sizes from 2 3/4 in. to 3 1/2 in. using any type of drilling fluid, in both under- and overbalanced applications. The CoilTrak's modularity and single-pin wet connectors mean that it can be tailored at the well site to meet customer needs. The system also provides directional, gamma ray, and temperature services, as well as improved depth control with a casing collar locator. An optional drilling performance sub features weight-on-bit, annular, and wellbore pressure sensors.
The CoilTrak system is controlled from surface by Baker's Advantage surface platform, which delivers reliable and simple bottomhole assembly control and efficient data processing.
In addition to CoilTrak, Baker Hughes will deploy its newly developed rib-steering motor, designed specifically for coiled-tubing applications. This technology allows for more precise reservoir navigation and wellbore quality, enabling longer horizontal laterals and enhanced reservoir penetration. The drilling package will feature drill bits specially designed for increased durability considered a necessity to handle this project’s highly challenging formations, while also providing extreme dogleg capabilities and minimal vibration. Industry-leading slimhole, through-tubing casing exit, and fishing-completion technology also are part of the downhole package.
Operations are set to begin in Q2 2010 on the Saudi Aramco contract, with an option for a 1-year extension. Saudi Aramco plans to re-enter existing wells and drill horizontally into untapped reservoir sections. The horizontal wells will be drilled underbalanced to minimize damage to the reservoir, which is critical to overall reserve recovery.
"This is an important award for Baker Hughes," notes Khaled Nouh, president of Baker Hughes, Middle East. "We will be drilling underbalanced dry gas zones, which are in high demand to supply Saudi Arabia’s local gas market."
